North to Seattle on August 7 on the I-5

Saw an indoor sky diving building.

Arrived at Trailer Inns RV Park of Bellevue. We had a lovely view of the I-405.

Dinner that night was at the Mediterranean Kitchen a fabulous Lebanese restaurant in Bellevue. After dinner since we were only 6 miles from Microsoft Headquarters in Redmond we had to pay a quick visit!

Coming into Seattle on Aug 8.

The Space Needle built for the 1962 World's Fair.

Seattle's China Town

This is the Five Point Cafe that has a neon sign in the window that says "Cheating tourists and drunks since 1929".

There are flowers and plants everywhere in Seattle.

The Edgewater Hotel on the waterfront was in danger of bankruptcy until the Beatles stayed there in 1964. Everything in the room was either stolen or sold after they left. They cut up the carpet into 1 inch squares and sold them all.

We ate at Anthony's on the waterfront. We both had seafood and then decided to split a dessert. The dessert was Peach Slump which was absolutely delicious! As we were eating I looked at Chuck's side of the dish and there was a bug baked into it! They comped our lunch and we left knowing we would never return to Anthony's.

Left Seattle for Spokane on Aug 9 to stay at Trailer Inns of Spokane. The terrain changed from this.....

...to this as soon as we crossed back over the Cascades.

Jamestown, ND/Maple Grove, MN

Portland, OR August 2-6

August 2 we drove to Portland, OR on I-84 along the beautiful Columbia River. 

We crossed the Cascade Mountains and the terrain changed to evergreen trees and green grass. 

We stayed at the Jantzen Beach RV Park on Hayden Island. Em, Chris and Evy stayed at this house on Massachusetts Ave.

 

We visited Powell's City of Books. I could have spent weeks in there.

 Then dinner at Deschutes Brewery.

Pocatello, ID/Baker City, OR

On our way to Idaho on July 30 we drove through Yellowstone from the East Entrance to the West Entrance. We saw a few more bison but nothing like we saw a couple of days ago.

We crossed into Idaho not long after leaving Yellowstone. Yes, we did see potato fields.

We spent the night at Batise Springs RV Park.

The next day, July 31 we drove through Idaho crossing the Snake River quite a few times.

 We arrived in Oregon and were surprised that the terrain was prairie not green fir trees.

In both Idaho and Oregon there are Chain-up Areas on highways going into higher elevations where trucks can stop and put chains on their tires. 

Arrived at Mt. View RV Park in Baker City, OR

 On August 1 we went to the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center. The Oregon Trail was a wagon road that ran from Missouri to the Oregon's Williamette Valley.

 This is a wagon that traveled the Oregon Trail in the 1880s
